ARNT2

Description

The ARNT2 (aryl hydrocarbon receptor nuclear translocator 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 15.

ARNT2 is a human gene that encodes a protein involved in transcription regulation. This protein belongs to the bHLH-PAS superfamily of transcription factors and forms heterodimers with other sensor proteins. It plays a role in responding to developmental and environmental stimuli, particularly under hypoxic conditions, where it complexes with hypoxia-inducible factor 1alpha to bind to oxygen-responsive genes. ARNT2 also interacts with the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) and Single-minded proteins, suggesting its involvement in xenobiotic metabolism and neurogenesis.

ARNT2, also known as Class E basic helix-loop-helix protein 1, acts as a transcription factor with a key role in the development of the hypothalamo-pituitary axis, postnatal brain growth, and visual and renal function. It specifically interacts with the xenobiotic response element (XRE).

ARNT2 is also known as WEDAS, bHLHe1.
