CDCA7

Description

The CDCA7 (cell division cycle associated 7) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

CDCA7 is a human gene that encodes the Cell division cycle-associated protein 7. It was identified as a c-Myc responsive gene and acts as a direct c-Myc target gene. Overexpression of CDCA7 enhances the transformation of lymphoblastoid cells and complements a transformation-defective Myc Box II mutant, indicating its involvement in c-Myc-mediated cell transformation. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.

CDCA7 participates in MYC-mediated cell transformation and apoptosis. It induces anchorage-independent growth and clonogenicity in lymphoblastoid cells. While overexpression of CDCA7 alone is not sufficient to induce tumorigenicity, it contributes to MYC-mediated tumorigenesis. CDCA7 may also play a role as a transcriptional regulator.

CDCA7 is also known as ICF3, JPO1.
