DOCK2
Description
The DOCK2 (dedicator of cytokinesis 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.
DOCK2, also known as Dedicator of cytokinesis protein 2, is a large protein involved in cell signaling. It belongs to the DOCK family of proteins which act as GEFs, activating small G-proteins. DOCK2 specifically activates RAC1 and RAC2, isoforms of the small G protein Rac. It is found primarily in leukocytes, particularly important for lymphocyte function. Unlike other GEFs, DOCK2 does not have the typical DH-PH domain structure. DOCK2 was discovered due to its high sequence similarity to Dock180, another member of the DOCK family.
