The ECEL1 (endothelin converting enzyme like 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

ECEL1 (Endothelin-converting enzyme-like 1) is a protein encoded by the ECEL1 gene in humans. It belongs to the neutral endopeptidase (NEP)-related family and is specifically expressed in the nervous system. Disruption of this gene in mouse embryonic stem cells leads to neonatal lethality due to respiratory failure, suggesting a critical role of ECEL1 in the nervous regulation of the respiratory system.

ECEL1 is also known as DA5D, DINE, ECEX, XCE.
