FARSB
Description
The FARSB (phenylalanyl-tRNA synthetase subunit beta) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.
The FARSB gene encodes a highly conserved enzyme, phenylalanyl-tRNA synthetase beta chain, which is part of the aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase class IIc subfamily. It forms a tetramer with two catalytic alpha subunits, encoded by FARSA, responsible for attaching L-phenylalanine to the terminal adenosine of the appropriate tRNA in the presence of ATP. This gene has a pseudogene located on chromosome 10.
