FLG : filaggrin

Description

The FLG gene, provides instructions for making filaggrin, a protein crucial for skin barrier function. Filaggrin helps bind together keratin fibers, forming a protective layer that prevents moisture loss and protects against external irritants. Mutations in the FLG gene can disrupt this process, leading to a weakened skin barrier and increased susceptibility to various skin conditions.
