Description

The ACTR1B (actin related protein 1B) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

Beta-centractin is a protein encoded by the ACTR1B gene in humans. It forms a 42.3 kD subunit of dynactin, a complex of 10 subunits essential for various cellular processes. Dynactin interacts with both microtubules and cytoplasmic dynein, contributing to activities like ER-to-Golgi transport, lysosome and endosome movement, spindle formation, chromosome movement, nuclear positioning, and axonogenesis. Beta-centractin, similar to ACTR1A, is an actin-related protein. These proteins share 90% amino acid identity and exist in a 1:15 ratio within the dynactin complex.

ACTR1B is also known as ARP1B, CTRN2, PC3.
