AKIP1


Description

The AKIP1 (A-kinase interacting protein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

AKIP1 is a human protein encoded by the AKIP1 gene. It is a nuclear protein that interacts with protein kinase A catalytic subunit (PRKACA) and regulates the effect of the cAMP-dependent protein kinase signaling pathway on the NF-kappa-B activation cascade. AKIP1 gene has been found to have multiple transcript variants.

AKIP1 enhances NF-kappa-B transcriptional activity by regulating the nuclear localization of the NF-kappa-B subunit RELA and promoting the phosphorylation of RELA by PRKACA. It also regulates the effect of the cAMP-dependent protein kinase signaling pathway on the NF-kappa-B activation cascade.

AKIP1 is also known as BCA3, C11orf17.
