The ALOX5AP (arachidonate 5-lipoxygenase activating protein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 13.

ALOX5AP is essential for the production of leukotrienes, a type of signaling molecule involved in inflammation and immune responses. It accomplishes this by anchoring the enzyme ALOX5 to the cell membrane and facilitating the transfer of arachidonic acid, a fatty acid precursor of leukotrienes, to ALOX5. Furthermore, ALOX5AP directly binds to MK-886, a drug that inhibits leukotriene production.
