The ANKRD23 (ankyrin repeat domain 23) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.
ANKRD23 is a human gene that encodes a protein with four ankyrin-like repeats. This protein is part of the muscle ankyrin repeat protein (MARP) family and is located in the nucleus, where it functions as a transcriptional regulator. The expression of ANKRD23 is increased during recovery from starvation. ANKRD23 has been shown to interact with Titin and MYPN.
ANKRD23 might play a role in energy metabolism and could serve as a connector between signaling pathways triggered by muscle fiber stretching and gene expression in muscles.
ANKRD23 is also known as DARP, MARP3.
