Description
The ANXA9 (annexin A9) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.
Annexin A9 is a protein encoded by the ANXA9 gene in humans. Annexins are a family of calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding proteins, characterized by four internal repeat domains with type II calcium-binding sites. These sites are essential for annexins to aggregate and bind anionic phospholipids and extracellular matrix proteins. ANXA9, however, is a divergent annexin with substitutions in all four calcium-binding sites, rendering them non-functional. Despite this, the conserved putative ion channel formed by the protein's core structure remains intact.
ANXA9 is also known as ANX31.
