APOBEC3F

Description

APOBEC3F is a gene that encodes a cytidine deaminase enzyme involved in the innate immune response. It plays a critical role in defending against retroviruses, including HIV, by introducing mutations into viral DNA, rendering it non-functional. APOBEC3F also contributes to DNA damage and mutagenesis in cancer cells, potentially acting as a tumor suppressor.
