ARFGAP2


Description

The ARFGAP2 (ADP ribosylation factor GTPase activating protein 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

ARFGAP2 acts as a GTPase-activating protein (GAP) for ADP ribosylation factor 1 (ARF1). It plays a role in the movement of proteins between the Golgi apparatus and the endoplasmic reticulum, a process facilitated by a protein complex called coatomer. The hydrolysis of GTP bound to ARF1 by ARFGAP2 is thought to cause the coatomer complex to detach from Golgi-derived membranes, enabling fusion with target membranes.
