BTAF1
Description
The BTAF1 (B-TFIID TATA-box binding protein associated factor 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.
BTAF1 is a human gene that encodes the TATA-binding protein-associated factor 172 protein. This protein is involved in the initiation of transcription by RNA polymerase II, working alongside TATA box-binding protein (TBP) and other TBP-associated factors (TAFs) in two distinct complexes: TFIID and B-TFIID. While TFIID consists of TBP and multiple TAFs, the majority of TBP is found in B-TFIID, which is composed of TBP and TAFII170 (also known as TAF172). This complex possesses DNA-dependent ATPase activity. BTAF1 is known to interact with TATA binding protein.
BTAF1 regulates transcription by interacting with TATA binding protein (TBP). It plays a role in removing TBP from the TATA box in an ATP-dependent manner.
