CASD1

Description

The CASD1 (CAS1 domain containing 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

CASD1 encodes an enzyme called N-acetylneuraminate 9-O-acetyltransferase, which plays a crucial role in modifying sialic acids, a type of sugar found on the surface of glycoproteins and glycolipids. This modification, known as 9-O-acetylation, is important for cell-cell interactions and the recognition of pathogens by the host.

CASD1 is also known as C7orf12, Cas1, NBLA04196, SOAT.
