CCNB2

Description

The CCNB2 (cyclin B2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 15.

Cyclin B2 is a protein encoded by the CCNB2 gene in humans. It belongs to the cyclin family, specifically the B-type cyclins, which are crucial for cell cycle regulation. Cyclin B2 works in conjunction with p34cdc2, a key component of the cell cycle machinery. While both B1 and B2 cyclins are essential, they differ in their cellular location: B1 is found with microtubules, while B2 primarily resides in the Golgi region. Cyclin B2 also binds to the TGF beta RII receptor, suggesting a role in TGF beta-mediated cell cycle control. Cyclin B2 has been shown to interact with TGF beta receptor 2.

Plays a critical role in regulating the progression of the cell cycle from the G2 phase to the M phase (mitosis).

CCNB2 is also known as HsT17299.
