Description

The CMTM6 (CKLF like MARVEL transmembrane domain containing 6) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

CMTM6 is a master regulator of PD-L1/CD274 recycling and expression on the cell surface. It plays a crucial role in immune tolerance by associating with PD-L1/CD274 at recycling endosomes, protecting it from degradation. This stabilization of PD-L1/CD274 on antigen-presenting cells enhances inhibitory signaling by PD-1 (its receptor on T-cells), ultimately leading to T-cell anergy.

CMTM6 is also known as CKLFSF6, PRO2219.
