CNOT2

Description

The CNOT2 (CCR4-NOT transcription complex subunit 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

CCR4-NOT transcription complex subunit 2 is a protein encoded by the CNOT2 gene in humans. It is a subunit of the CCR4-Not deadenylase complex.

CNOT2 is a component of the CCR4-NOT complex, which is a major cellular mRNA deadenylase. The CCR4-NOT complex plays a role in various cellular processes, including mRNA degradation, miRNA-mediated repression, translational repression, and transcriptional regulation. CNOT2 is essential for the structural integrity of the CCR4-NOT complex. CNOT2 can repress transcription and may link the CCR4-NOT complex to transcriptional regulation, possibly through interactions with the N-Cor repressor complex. CNOT2 is involved in maintaining embryonic stem cell identity.

CNOT2 is also known as CDC36, HSPC131, IDNADFS, NOT2, NOT2H.
