CXXC1

Description

The CXXC1 (CXXC finger protein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 18.

CXXC1, also known as CpG-binding protein (CGBP) or PHD finger and CXXC domain-containing protein 1 (PCCX1), is a protein encoded by the CXXC1 gene in humans. Proteins containing a CXXC motif within their DNA-binding domain, such as CXXC1, recognize CpG sequences and regulate gene expression.

CXXC1 acts as a transcriptional activator, selectively recognizing and binding to unmethylated CpG motifs within DNA, exhibiting a preference for CpGG sequences.

CXXC1 is also known as 2410002I16Rik, 5830420C16Rik, CFP1, CGBP, HsT2645, PCCX1, PHF18, SPP1, ZCGPC1, hCGBP.
