HSPB3

Description

The HSPB3 (heat shock protein family B (small) member 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

HspB3, or heat shock protein beta-3, is a protein found in human muscle cells and encoded by the HSPB3 gene. It plays a role in protecting cells from stress, particularly heat stress. Mutations in the HSPB3 gene can cause a condition called autosomal dominant distal hereditary motor neuropathy type 2C, which affects nerve function in the limbs.

Inhibits the process of actin polymerization, a key step in the formation of cellular structures.

HSPB3 is also known as DHMN2C, HMN2C, HMND4, HSPL27.
