IAPP

Description

The IAPP (islet amyloid polypeptide) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

IAPP, or Islet Amyloid Polypeptide, is a protein produced by the pancreatic beta-cell. It is linked to type II diabetes. IAPP can also refer to other things, including an Inter-Access Point Protocol, an iOS application, and several organizations.

IAPP selectively inhibits insulin-stimulated glucose utilization and glycogen deposition in muscle tissue, while not affecting glucose metabolism in fat cells (adipocytes).

IAPP is also known as DAP, IAP.
