IL24

Description

The IL24 (interleukin 24) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

IL-24 or IL 24 can refer to:

Interleukin 24 Illinois's 24th congressional district, an obsolete district Illinois Route 24 Ilyushin-24 Soviet bomber project. The design of the plane based on IL-22 was started after World War II and abandoned along with the IL-22 project.

IL-24 is a multifunctional cytokine primarily produced by T-cells. It plays a regulatory role in immune responses, tissue homeostasis, host defense, and oncogenesis. IL-24 exhibits antiviral properties and triggers type I interferon responses during influenza infections. It signals through two receptor complexes: IL20RA/IL20RB or IL20RB/IL22RA1, activating the JAK1-STAT3 and MAPK pathways, and promoting the secretion of pro-inflammatory mediators such as IL8 and MMP1. IL-24 also maintains endoplasmic reticulum homeostasis by restricting eIF2alpha-CHOP pathway-mediated stress signals. Additionally, it acts as a quality control mechanism for the ubiquitin proteasome system, alerting the cell to proteasome dysfunction through the activation of PKR/EIF2AK2.

IL24 is also known as C49A, FISP, IL10B, MDA7, MOB5, ST16.
