IRX2

Description

The IRX2 (iroquois homeobox 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

IRX2 is a human gene that encodes the Iroquois-class homeodomain protein IRX-2. This protein plays a role in the development of vertebrate embryos, potentially through its involvement in pattern formation. Studies have shown a decrease in IRX2 expression in uterine cervical preneoplastic lesions associated with human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. This suggests that IRX2 may be linked to tumorigenesis and could serve as a marker for the progression of these lesions.

IRX2 is also known as IRXA2.
