Description
The KBTBD4 (kelch repeat and BTB domain containing 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.
KBTBD4, also known as BTB and kelch domain-containing protein 4, functions as a substrate-specific adapter within the BCR (BTB-CUL3-RBX1) E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. This complex facilitates the proteasomal degradation of specific target proteins, primarily by recognizing and binding to their ELM2 domain. KBTBD4 targets various proteins, including RCOR1, KDM1A/LSD1, HDAC2, RCOR3, MIER2, MIER3, ZNF217, and RREB1 for degradation. The degradation of KDM1A and HDAC2 likely arises from their association with RCOR1.
