KCNS2

Description

The KCNS2 (potassium voltage-gated channel modifier subfamily S member 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.

KCNS2 (Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily S member 2) is a gene that encodes a protein involved in the formation of voltage-gated potassium channels. This protein acts as a subunit within the channel structure.

KCNS2 is a potassium channel subunit that cannot form functional channels on its own. It can form functional channels when combined with KCNB1 and KCNB2, creating a heterotetrameric complex. This complex influences the activation and deactivation rates of KCNB1 and KCNB2, which are delayed rectifier voltage-gated potassium channels.

KCNS2 is also known as KV9.2.
