LHX2
Description
The LHX2 (LIM homeobox 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.
The LHX2 gene encodes a protein containing the LIM domain, a unique cysteine-rich zinc-binding domain. This protein family may function as a transcriptional regulator. LHX2 has shown to interact with CITED2 and its function is conserved in evolution.
LHX2 acts as a transcriptional activator, stimulating the promoter of the alpha-glycoprotein gene. It functions as a transcriptional regulatory protein involved in the control of cell differentiation during the development of lymphoid and neural cell types.
LHX2 is also known as LH2, hLhx2.
