Description
The LSM14A (LSM14A mRNA processing body assembly factor) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.
LSM14A is essential for the formation of P-bodies, cytoplasmic structures that store translationally inactive mRNAs and protect them from degradation. It acts as a repressor of mRNA translation and may play a role in mitotic spindle assembly.
LSM14A is also known as C19orf13, FAM61A, RAP55, RAP55A.
