METTL2B

Description

The METTL2B (methyltransferase 2B, tRNA N3-cytidine) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

METTL2B is a human gene that encodes a methyltransferase-like protein. It belongs to a family of methyltransferases related to, but distinct from, the UbiE family. Multiple protein isoforms are produced through alternative splicing, but not all have been fully characterized.

METTL2B is an S-adenosyl-L-methionine-dependent methyltransferase. It catalyzes the methylation of residue 32 within the anticodon loop of tRNA(Thr)(UGU) and tRNA(Arg)(CCU), specifically adding an N(3)-methylcytidine modification.

METTL2B is also known as METL, METTL2, METTL2A, PSENIP1.
