MFSD5

Description

The MFSD5 (major facilitator superfamily domain containing 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

MFSD5 is an atypical SLC expressed in the neuronal plasma membrane, making it a plausible Solute carrier transporter. It transports molybdate anions and interacts with GLP-1R. MFSD5 belongs to the AMTF6 family.

MFSD5 mediates the high-affinity intracellular uptake of molybdenum, a rare oligo-element.

MFSD5 is also known as SLC61A1, hsMOT2.
