MPG
Description
The MPG (N-methylpurine DNA glycosylase) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.
MPG or mpg refers to the human gene MPG, which encodes for the protein MPG, also known as DNA-3-methyladenine glycosylase.
MPG (N-methylpurine-DNA glycosylase) repairs DNA damage caused by alkylation by removing 3-methyladenine and 7-methylguanine from DNA. It does this by breaking the bond between the damaged base and the sugar-phosphate backbone of the DNA molecule.
MPG is also known as AAG, ADPG, APNG, CRA36.1, MDG, Mid1, PIG11, PIG16, anpg.
