NEO1


Description

The NEO1 (neogenin 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 15.

Neogenin is a protein encoded by the NEO1 gene in humans. It has been shown to interact with PTK2. Neogenin receptor is a component of the mechanisms that determine skeletal cell fusion through RGMa (repulsive guidance molecule a) binding.

Neogenin is a multi-functional cell surface receptor that regulates cell adhesion in various developmental processes such as neural tube and mammary gland formation, myogenesis and angiogenesis. It acts as a receptor for members of the BMP, netrin, and repulsive guidance molecule (RGM) families. Interactions with netrin result in a chemoattractive axon guidance response and cell-cell adhesion, while interactions with RGMa and RGMb induce a chemorepulsive response.

NEO1 is also known as IGDCC2, NGN, NTN1R2.
