NOC2L


Description

The NOC2L (NOC2 like nucleolar associated transcriptional repressor) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

Nucleolar complex protein 2 homolog (NOC2L) is a protein encoded by the NOC2L gene in humans.

NOC2L acts as an inhibitor of histone acetyltransferase activity, preventing acetylation of all core histones by the EP300/p300 histone acetyltransferase at p53/TP53-regulated target promoters. This inhibition occurs in a histone deacetylases (HDAC)-independent manner. It also acts as a transcription corepressor of p53/TP53- and TP63-mediated transactivation of the p21/CDKN1A promoter, playing a role in the regulation of p53/TP53-dependent apoptosis. NOC2L associates with TP63 isoform TA*-gamma at the p21/CDKN1A promoter.

NOC2L is also known as NET15, NET7, NIR, PPP1R112.
