TRMT2A
Description
The TRMT2A (tRNA methyltransferase 2 homolog A) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 22.
TRMT2A is an S-adenosyl-L-methionine-dependent methyltransferase that catalyzes the formation of 5-methyl-uridine in tRNAs and some mRNAs. It primarily methylates uridine at position 54 (m5U54) in cytosolic tRNAs, but can also mediate the formation of 5-methyl-uridine in specific mRNAs.
TRMT2A is also known as HTF9C.
