TYW3

Description

The TYW3 (tRNA-yW synthesizing protein 3 homolog) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

TYW3 is likely an S-adenosyl-L-methionine-dependent methyltransferase that plays a crucial role in the biosynthesis of wybutosine. Wybutosine is a highly modified guanine base with a tricyclic structure, located at the 3' position adjacent to the anticodon of eukaryotic phenylalanine tRNA.

TYW3 is also known as C1orf171.
