EHF
Description
The EHF (ETS homologous factor) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.
EHF can refer to the human gene EHF, which encodes a transcription factor with roles in epithelial cell regulation, and possibly as a tumor suppressor or anti-oncogene.
EHF, also known as hEHF, is a transcriptional activator involved in regulating epithelial cell differentiation and proliferation. It can act as a repressor for specific ETS/AP-1-responsive genes and modulate the nuclear response to mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling. EHF binds to DNA sequences containing the GGAA core sequence and regulates TNFRSF10B/DR5 expression via Ets-binding sequences on its promoter. Its role in development and carcinogenesis suggests it might act as a tumor suppressor or anti-oncogene.
