ESX1
Description
The ESX1 (ESX homeobox 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.
Homeobox protein ESX1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ESX1 gene.
ESX1 may regulate cell cycle progression and transcription during spermatogenesis. It inhibits the degradation of polyubiquitinated cyclin A and cyclin B1, leading to cell cycle arrest at early M phase. ESXR1-N acts as a transcriptional repressor, binding to the sequence 5'-TAATGTTATTA-3' within the first intron of the KRAS gene and inhibiting its expression. ESXR1-C can inhibit cyclin turnover.
ESX1 is also known as ESX1L, ESXR1.
