GCHFR


Description

The GCHFR (GTP cyclohydrolase I feedback regulator) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 15.

GTP cyclohydrolase 1 feedback regulatory protein is an enzyme encoded by the GCHFR gene in humans. It binds to and mediates tetrahydrobiopterin inhibition of GTP cyclohydrolase I. GCHFR forms a homodimer and is thought to play a role in regulating phenylalanine metabolism in the liver and in the production of biogenic amine neurotransmitters and nitric oxide.

GCHFR mediates the inhibition of GTP cyclohydrolase 1 by tetrahydrobiopterin. This inhibition can be reversed by L-phenylalanine.

GCHFR is also known as GFRP, HsT16933, P35.
