GCNT4
Description
The GCNT4 (glucosaminyl (N-acetyl) transferase 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.
GCNT4 is a glycosyltransferase responsible for adding N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) to O-glycans, specifically creating core 2 branches. This branching is crucial for the production of mucin-type glycoproteins. GCNT4 does not exhibit core 4 O-glycan or I-branching enzyme activity.
