GDPD1


Description

The GDPD1 (glycerophosphodiester phosphodiesterase domain containing 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

GDPD1 hydrolyzes lysoglycerophospholipids to generate lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) and corresponding amines. It preferentially acts on 1-O-alkyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (lyso-PAF), lysophosphatidylethanolamine (lyso-PE), and lysophosphatidylcholine (lyso-PC). GDPD1 may contribute to the biosynthesis of bioactive N-acylethanolamines from both N-acyl-lysoplasmenylethanolamin (N-acyl-lysoPlsEt) and N-acyl-lysophosphatidylethanolamin (N-acyl-lysoPE). Additionally, it hydrolyzes glycerophospho-N-acylethanolamine to N-acylethanolamine. However, GDPD1 lacks glycerophosphodiester phosphodiesterase activity, as it cannot hydrolyze either glycerophosphoinositol or glycerophosphocholine.

GDPD1 is also known as GDE4.
