Description

The GNG11 (G protein subunit gamma 11) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

GNG11, the gene responsible for producing the guanine nucleotide-binding protein G(I)/G(S)/G(O) subunit gamma-11, is a member of the G protein gamma family. It encodes a lipid-anchored protein located on the cell membrane, contributing to the transmembrane signaling system. This protein is essential for the function of the heterotrimeric G protein complex. GNG11 undergoes carboxyl-terminal processing. Notably, reduced expression of GNG11 has been linked to splenic marginal zone lymphomas.

GNG11, part of the G protein complex, plays a crucial role in transmembrane signaling systems by modulating and transducing signals across cell membranes. The beta and gamma subunits of the G protein complex are essential for the GTPase activity, which involves replacing GDP with GTP, and for the interaction between the G protein and effector molecules.

GNG11 is also known as GNGT11, HG3H1.
