Description
The GNG7 (G protein subunit gamma 7) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.
GNG7 is a protein encoded by the GNG7 gene in humans. It interacts with GNB5, another protein involved in cellular signaling.
G proteins are involved in various transmembrane signaling systems. The beta and gamma subunits are essential for GTPase activity, GDP/GTP exchange, and interactions with effectors. GNG7 plays a role in regulating adenylyl cyclase signaling in specific brain regions. It contributes to the formation or stabilization of a G protein heterotrimer (G(olf) subunit alpha-beta-gamma-7) that is crucial for adenylyl cyclase activity in the striatum.
