GRIK1-AS2

Description

The GRIK1-AS2 (GRIK1 antisense RNA 2) is a ncRNA gene located on chromosome 21.

GRIK1-AS2 acts as a transcriptional regulator, capable of both repression and activation depending on the cellular context. It binds to specific DNA sequences known as NF-E2 sites, suggesting its involvement in regulating gene expression. GRIK1-AS2 is believed to play a critical role in coordinating transcriptional activation and repression, potentially through interactions with the MAFK protein. Evidence indicates that GRIK1-AS2, in conjunction with other MAF proteins, can suppress the transcription of genes regulated by the NFE2L2 oxidative stress pathway.

GRIK1-AS2 is also known as C21orf41, NCRNA00258.
