GSKIP

Description

The GSKIP (GSK3B interacting protein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

GSKIP, also known as GSK3beta interaction protein, acts as an A-kinase anchoring protein (AKAP) for both GSK3B and PKA, regulating their kinase activity towards target proteins. This ternary complex (GSKIP, GSK3B, and PKA) plays a crucial role in Wnt signaling, modulating beta-catenin phosphorylation, leading to its degradation and stabilization. Upon cAMP activation, the ternary complex contributes to neuroprotection by facilitating PKA-induced phosphorylation of DML1 and inactivation of GSK3B. In neurite outgrowth, GSKIP promotes neuron proliferation by inhibiting GSK3B activity, enhancing beta-catenin-induced transcriptional activity, and reducing N-cadherin levels to facilitate cell cycle progression.

GSKIP is also known as C14orf129, HSPC210.
