HEXIM1
Description
The HEXIM1 (HEXIM P-TEFb complex subunit 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.
Protein HEXIM1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the HEXIM1 gene.
HEXIM1 is a transcriptional regulator that inhibits RNA polymerase II activity. It is a core component of the 7SK RNP complex, where it sequesters P-TEFb, preventing RNA polymerase II phosphorylation and transcriptional elongation. HEXIM1 can also regulate the activity of various transcription factors including NF-kappa-B, ESR1, NR3C1, and CIITA. HEXIM1 plays a role in the regulation of the innate immune response to DNA viruses by assembling into the HDP-RNP complex, which activates the cGAS-STING pathway.
