PCMTD2
Description
The PCMTD2 (protein-L-isoaspartate (D-aspartate) O-methyltransferase domain containing 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.
PCMTD2 is thought to function as a substrate recognition component within an ECS (Elongin BC-CUL5-SOCS-box protein) E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. This complex plays a crucial role in tagging target proteins with ubiquitin, marking them for degradation by the proteasome. PCMTD2 may also interact with the methyltransferase cofactor S-adenosylmethionine (AdoMet) through its N-terminal AdoMet binding motif, although it is believed not to possess actual methyltransferase activity.
