PM20D2

Description

The PM20D2 (peptidase M20 domain containing 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

PM20D2 breaks down dipeptides that have basic amino acids (lysine, ornithine, or arginine) at the end. This is thought to be a way to repair mistakes made during the production of carnosine, a molecule that acts as an antioxidant and protects against nerve damage.

PM20D2 is also known as ACY1L2.
