PPM1G

Description

The PPM1G (protein phosphatase, Mg2+/Mn2+ dependent 1G) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

Protein phosphatase 1G is an enzyme encoded by the PPM1G gene in humans. It belongs to the PP2C family of Ser/Thr protein phosphatases, which are known to regulate cell stress response pathways. This phosphatase is responsible for dephosphorylating Pre-mRNA splicing factors, essential for the formation of functional spliceosomes. Studies on a similar gene in mice suggest a role in regulating cell cycle progression. Multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified.

PPM1G is also known as PP2CG, PP2CGAMMA, PPP2CG.
