PRR5L

Description

The PRR5L (proline rich 5 like) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

PRR5L associates with the mTORC2 complex, which plays a crucial role in regulating cellular processes such as survival and cytoskeleton organization. It modulates the activity of mTORC2 in a substrate-specific manner, inhibiting the phosphorylation of protein kinase C (PKC) and consequently controlling cell migration. PRR5L also participates in the stimulation of ZFP36-mediated mRNA decay of specific mRNAs (e.g., TNF-alpha and GM-CSF) in response to stress. Moreover, it is essential for ZFP36 localization to cytoplasmic stress granules (SG) and P-bodies (PB) under stress conditions.

PRR5L is also known as PROTOR2.
