PTGES3

Description

The PTGES3 (prostaglandin E synthase 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

Prostaglandin E synthase 3 (cytosolic) is an enzyme encoded by the PTGES3 gene in humans. This protein, also known as p23, functions as a chaperone essential for the proper functioning of glucocorticoid and other steroid receptors.

PTGES3, also known as Cytosolic prostaglandin E2 synthase, functions as a prostaglandin synthase that converts prostaglandin endoperoxide H2 (PGH2) to prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). It also acts as a molecular chaperone, localizing to genomic response elements in a hormone-dependent manner and disrupting receptor-mediated transcriptional activation by promoting the disassembly of transcriptional regulatory complexes. PTGES3 facilitates the hydroxylation of HIF alpha proteins through its interaction with EGLN1/PHD2, leading to the recruitment of EGLN1/PHD2 to the HSP90 pathway.

PTGES3 is also known as P23, TEBP, cPGES.
