RALY
Description
The RALY (RALY heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.
RALY is a human gene that encodes an RNA-binding protein. It is involved in infectious mononucleosis, where anti-EBNA-1 antibodies cross-react with RALY due to the presence of similar configurations in the EBNA-1 repeat. RALY is a member of the heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein gene family.
RALY acts as a transcriptional cofactor for cholesterol biosynthetic genes in the liver. It binds the lipid-responsive non-coding RNA LeXis and is required for LeXis-mediated effects on cholesterogenesis. It may also be a heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP).
